Pre-Course Oral/Written Assessments

Pre-course oral assessments are typically done for free once a basic agreement has been reached to go ahead with the Training. Course participants attend individual interviews face to face with the trainer at their workplace. Each interview is around 10min long and aims to evaluate their spoken English level. This can be done telephonically for those participants that are not available due to being on a business trip.

Pre-course written assessments can also be done if the nature of the course, and number or participants warrants it. Course participants attend writing test session at their workplace. The writing test, however, is charged for and is around 1 hour long and aims to evaluate their written English level.

Only a qualified BULATS instructor can conduct a bona fide Bulats test. However the expense of doing this is higher. Therefore most clients go for a BULATS style assessment

Participant Assessment Methodology

Course participants will be assessed prior to the course commencing and periodically reassessed by the trainer; in order to track progress and deal with any student specific weaknesses and also allow management to track participant performance and participation. Assessment of participants is important for maintaining their motivation in class and for providing some tangible feedback to management for their investment.

Participant Assessment Criteria

  • Participation in class: active versus passive.
  • Confidence: to speak to one person, to a group, to present, to chair a discussion, to interrupt
