Workshop agenda
| Time (GMT) | Session | What you will practise |
|---|---|---|
| 09:30–10:00 | Choose the audience and the point | Compare what an operations leader and an IT reviewer need from a SaaS explanation. Identify the question your story should answer and the detail that helps that audience make sense of it. Your output: A clear audience brief and 1 sentence stating your purpose. |
| 10:00–10:45 | Build the story through a workflow | Turn a fictional feature list into a sequence: current work, relevant change and practical effect. Use a SaaS service-request workflow or cloud reporting example. Your output: A short narrative outline grounded in a recognisable workflow. |
| 10:45–11:30 | Explain and test the first version | Each participant delivers a short explanation to a specified audience. Peers describe what they understood and what remained unclear. Facilitator feedback addresses structure, relevance, language and the strength of the supporting evidence. Your output: Observed initial delivery and audience understanding feedback. |
| 11:30–12:30 | Lunch break | Optional 10-minute 1-to-1 video check-in with Paul to review feedback and focus your afternoon practice. |
| 12:30–13:15 | Make value credible for different stakeholders | Adapt the same capability for a business sponsor and technical reviewer. Practise useful examples, proportionate evidence and questions about implementation conditions. Avoid turning a potential efficiency benefit into an unsupported financial return or delivery guarantee. Your output: Audience-specific explanation choices and an evidence check. |
| 13:15–14:00 | Refine and present again | Each participant repeats a short explanation using the feedback. Answer a relevant audience question and check how the audience interpreted the value. Your output: An observed repeat attempt and a clearer value narrative. |
| 14:00–14:30 | Carry the story into a real conversation | Prepare an opening, a visual or example and a purposeful closing question for an upcoming buyer meeting. Mark facts requiring internal validation. Choose 2 observable actions and the feedback you will request from a colleague. Your output: A reusable story outline and 2 workplace practice actions. |
Preparation and follow-up
Before the workshop
Complete a short questionnaire and submit a brief written or recorded solution explanation. State the audience, the decision it supports and the evidence behind your claims.
After the workshop
Submit a revised explanation in the same format. Identify 2 actions for making your next solution explanation clearer and more relevant.
Your individual report compares structure, relevance, clarity and evidence in the submissions. Delivery and interaction feedback uses observed workshop practice, or the 2 recordings if you submit video. Your 30/60/90-day action plan identifies practice opportunities and review criteria.
Bring: a short solution explanation using approved sample information. A fictional SaaS brief is available when your own material cannot be shared.

Workshop questions
Is this a slide design workshop?
The focus is your explanation and delivery. A simple slide, sketch or workflow can support it; a finished deck is unnecessary.
Do I need client success stories or ROI figures?
No. Use approved evidence where available. Fictional scenarios support practice without inventing customer results, financial returns or product capabilities.
How does this differ from demo presentation skills?
This workshop develops the narrative explaining value, including before software is shown. Demo practice develops how you select and present the software workflow.
